Phare the Cambodian Circus has its home just 1 kilometre from Nita by Vo. Every night, at 8.00 pm, a group of artists from Phare Ponleu Selpak offers a Cambodian spectacle that should not be missed. Indeed on Trip Advisor, the circus frequently has a higher rating than Angkor Wat itself!

Phare was started by 8 students from a refugee camp after the troubles in the 1970s. They recognised the power of art therapy in helping young people to get over the trauma. They opened a school, Phare Ponleu Selpak in Battambang, and offered free schooling to youngsters there. Over the last 20 years, PPS has started an art school, which was followed by a music school and a theatre school. Around 10 years ago they opened a free public school, and finally, when some children still did not respond to the treatment, they founded the circus school.

Many of the artists at Phare have come from very difficult social backgrounds – single parents or orphans, extreme poverty, abuse etc. What they have now become defies belief. The shows are full of emotion and skill. These young people WANT to make you smile, cry and experience the stories they tell. Each Cambodian show tells a story and is accompanied by music from their own musicians.

The acrobatics and circus skills will take your breath away. The power of the experience will leave you full of joy. Truly it is an evening not to be missed.

Nita by Vo sells tickets. For $15 you can get a non-reserved seat. However for the best experience, we sell V.I.P seats. These are available at $35, and guarantee you one of the best seats in the house. You also receive a free gift from the boutique outside.
